God Is Always Speaking
Can you hear Him?
Know Him
TRUTH: God is always trying to get your attention.
“Go out and stand before me on the mountain,” the Lord told him. And as Elijah stood there, the Lord passed by, and a mighty windstorm hit the mountain. It was such a terrible blast that the rocks were torn loose, but the Lord was not in the wind. After the wind there was an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake. And after the earthquake there was a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire. And after the fire there was the sound of a gentle whisper.”
— 1 Kings 19:11-12 (NLT)
Understand Yourself
REFLECT: What part of your life do you need God to speak into right now and offer some sort of direction?
In the scripture we read today, Elijah is stressed. He is in hiding because he believes that all of God’s people are dead and that he is the last survivor. Elijah is completely distraught. In this moment, God explains to Elijah the reality of the situation and what he is to do next. (Read 1 Kings 19:1-18 for the whole story.)
Do His Work
TAKE ACTION: Stop thinking, worrying, stressing, whatever it is you are doing, and be silent. Do whatever you need to do or go wherever you need to go to clear your mind for a moment.
In the silence, ask God the question you need a specific answer to. Then remain silent.
Ask.
Be silent.
Listen.
The BEST is yet to come!
