From Here to There - Lesson 6

You must be aware of the roadblocks in your path and understand how to navigate past them.

The road ahead is guaranteed to have roadblocks. As you progress on this journey, you must prepare for anything that attempts to stand in your way. Your work in Lesson 5 to create a plan will play a big part in identifying your roadblocks. If you haven’t finished that plan, ensure you do before we move forward.

Look at your plan in its entirety. Use your imagination and visualize each leg of your journey from one “checkpoint” to the next. Naturally, you will see yourself moving forward unphased and excited for what’s ahead. That is great! But do not neglect the fact we already discussed you will encounter roadblocks.

Go through the plan again and look for issues that may arise. Think creatively here and picture things getting in your way. What are they?

What is most likely going to pop up and slow you down? Here are just a few examples:

  • Busy seasons of the year

  • Significant expenses

  • Common distractions

  • Unsupportive people

Regardless of what comes up as you imagine your journey’s roadblocks, write them down. This list is not something to be frightened of. Instead, I want you to be encouraged. By identifying these roadblocks, you will have the chance to prepare and get out ahead of them.

Most people will skip this step and just figure things out as they go. Those people inevitably get sidetracked, lost, or abandon their journey altogether. You are not like most people! You have done the hard work to intentionally plan where you are going, and this exercise will ensure you get there.
